Going to flea markets can be tons of fun. You never know what kind of items you could find. Many go to try and locate antiques, others materials for upcycling products.

There are so many things that you can find it can be quite overwhelming when you decide to go to a flea market. Sometimes, its a good idea to go with a list of what you might like to pick up to see if you can locate them.

In Houston, there are a lot of people that work at the flea markets with many different items they are looking to sell. Many will even haggle with you to give you the best deal possible. Let’s face it, haggling is the best part of going to a flea market.

Farm Fresh

Looking for the freshest vegetables and fruit? Flea markets are one of the best places to get the best produce. A lot of the vendors that sell produce actually grow the fruit and vegetables. Typically they are picked the morning of a flea market. That means you get the freshest produce.

In most cases, you will actually get better deals at the flea market for your produce than you can at your local super market. So, when the chance is available, pick up your fresh veggies and fruits. You won’t be disappointed.

Antique Finds

Antiques are another big seller especially around a Houston flea market. You can find furnishings, retro clothing, even decorative items. Many look for these items to upcycle or even fix them up to look new again.

A lot of time the merchants don’t want to have to take the items back with them and will cut you a pretty good deal for what you are looking for. Some will even deliver the items for you. This may cost a little bit, but it will be well worth it.

School Days

School is right around the corner. Everyone knows how difficult it can be when it comes to the high prices of clothing for the kids. You can actually find really great deals on clothing and shoes. In many cases, for half the price you pay at the big name stores. So if you want your kids looking great hit the Houston flea market, you won’t be disappointed.

Don’t forget about back packs and other school supplies, these items can also be found. If you are shopping for more than one child, this is a great way to get everything they need at half the cost.

Collectibles

Looking for a gift for someone who loves superheroes? Then hitting the flea market is the way to go. There are a lot of merchants that sell action figures and more that are highly collectible. Some even carry famous card game cards that kids like to collect.

If you haggle with the merchant, you are sure to get one of the best deals on these types of items. Don’t forget, if you find an item at one location then see it again at another and don’t feel like walking back to the other, you may be able to talk down the price. Use this to your advantage.

Be Prepared

It’s always a good idea to make sure that you are prepared for a day at the flea market. Don’t carry a huge purse. You may laugh but fanny packs are making a come back and work great to carry everything you may need.

Keep some cash on hand. This is helpful. There are many vendors that don’t have credit machines and will only work in cash. If you forget, there are ATM machines available. You will have to pay a fee but it is worth it when you find exactly what you are looking for.

Last but not least, make sure you take a couple of decent size bags with you to carry your goodies in. This will save you from having to carry a ton of plastic bags around. You can even take a trip back to your car so you can put things away and not have to worry about getting an aching back.
